We’re not just any shipyard—we’re a full-service dockyard with both a dock and a slipway. Whether it’s renewing old ships, handling complex repairs, or completely transforming existing vessels, we do it all. Do you want to ensure that the ships docking with us are back in service quickly and in top condition? We’re looking for (experienced) ship metalworkers to join our team!
Location: Farmsum and Delfzijl (Northern Netherlands)
What will you be doing?
You’ll be responsible for repairing ships, creating various constructions on board, welding, cutting, and working with tools. Your work will take place in the dock, on the yard, and in the harbors.
We handle a wide variety of ships, so no two weeks are the same. One week, you might be contributing to a 5-year maintenance check, and the next, you’ll be fixing a dent in the bow with your colleagues. We also take on large and complex projects.
Take the vessel Rotra Mare, for example: it came to our dock to be lengthened by eleven meters. First, we built a completely new section. To install it, we halved the existing ship in our floating dock. After towing the bow away, we inserted the new section and adjusted it to the aft ship. Then, we lowered the dock again to reattach the bow. You can imagine the amount of metalwork involved in a project like this!
Together with your colleagues, you’ll ensure that all tasks are completed successfully. You’ll take a practical approach and think in terms of solutions to get the ship back in operation quickly and efficiently.
André Kaman:
"The best part of this job? It’s different every time. What works for one ship may not work for another. It’s great to improvise and come up with solutions on the spot."
