First European-built CO₂ carrier receives its deck hatches at Wagenborg terminal in Delfzijl

The construction of the first CO₂ carrier built in Europe has reached a significant stage with the installation of its deck hatches. These hatches now cover and protect the CO₂ tanks, which are designed to transport approximately 5,000 tonnes of liquid CO₂.

Transport aft ship section EasyMax 6 marks next step in newbuilding for Wagenborg

The aft ship section of yard number 855 was safely and succesfully transported from the construction hall to the quay side at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander in Delfzijl. This vessel, under construction as EasyMax 6, is being built for Wagenborg and is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2026.

Final CO₂ tanks installed on Carbon Destroyer 1 in Delfzijl

The last CO₂ tanks have recently been safely and successfully installed on board the Carbon Destroyer 1 at the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard in Delfzijl. This vessel is the first CO₂ carrier built in Europe and will be deployed next year in the Greensand Project. The ship is being constructed on behalf of INEOS Energy.

Four CO₂ tanks loaded for Carbon Destroyer 1

This week marks an important milestone in the development of the Carbon Destroyer 1, the innovative CO₂ carrier currently under construction at shipyard Royal Niestern Sander in Delfzijl. In Harelbeke, Belgium, four large CO₂ tanks were successfully loaded onto two inland vessels. These tanks are essential components of the carrier’s storage system and will enable the vessel to transport captured CO₂ safely and efficiently.
