Conversion project Yed Prior to gravel dredger at Niestern Sander

For several weeks, the MV Yed Prior has been docked at the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard in Delfzijl for a conversion. This ship is being converted from a container ship to a gravel dredger for the fa. Spaansen. In April, work started with that can only be done when the ship is dry.

Activities and large survey

A limited number of activities have been agreed in advance, such as the installation of spud pole penetrations, bottom doors, sliding guide, jet water intake, bow thruster connection, inspection of the rudder, propeller and propeller shaft. The ship is also hydro jetted and painted. Work is also being carried out for a large survey. Meanwhile, various suppliers and subcontractors are on board for the electricity, hydraulics, accommodation, steelwork, etc.

Scope of the work

Meanwhile, the scope of the work has grown considerably with additional activities. For example, Niestern Sander is currently putting the finishing touches on the repair of some of the ship’s skin damage. Furthermore, work will start on raising the hopper’s tank top.

All in all a nice project in progress where the knowledge and skills of the repair yard in Delfzijl is clearly reflected.
