Conversion project Blue Queen closed successfully

At the end of 2017 the “Blue Queen” arrived from Norway in the port of Delfzijl. For 16 weeks, shipyard Royal Niestern Sander has been taken care of this standard “PX121 Platform Supply Vessel”. Completely converted into a specialized “Walk to Work Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel”, the vessel has recently been delivered to Wagenborg Offshore. A challenging conversion project in which time and planning were decisive for succes.

The project of the DP2 vessel “Blue Queen” is thoroughly engineered by a close cooperation between the Wagenborg Projects & Newbuilding department and shipyard Royal Niestern Sander. The major conversion of this offshore supply vessel into a walk to work emergency response and rescue vessel comprised the following items:

  • expanding the accommodation facilities by installing an additional accommodation and emergency response unit on deck
  • installation of a motion compensated gangway system
  • installation of a heave compensated crane
  • instalaltion of daughter craft and fast rescue craft
  • manufacturing and installation of hose reels for chemical tranport

This morning, Friday 2nd March, the vessel left the yard and set course to Eemshaven, where she will execute the final trials before start operations.
